The Flight- Tokyo to São Paulo, by Melissa

December 5, 2016/1 Comment/in From the Kids/by Melissa Damiao

abu dhabi airport

A sign at Abu Dhabi Airport: Can you spot the smiley face?

The flight to São Paulo was okay, there was no bad egg smells within the flight and stuff like that… But the seats were terrible and we couldn’t sleep much because there was a baby crying the whole flight…

There are two flights in our journey, one flight was from Tokyo to Abu Dhabi, the second flight was from Abu Dhabi to São Paulo.
Our first flight was at 9pm so we just started our day off normally, did a few last things that needed to be done, when it was about 2:00 when we left off on our way to the airport.
We were taking a bus to the airport but to get to the bus place we needed to take a train.
The train is super full, and when a family of 6 with huge backpacks on their backs walk in the train, it only makes the situation worse.

We took the bus to the airport, dad and mom slept on the bus, while José, João, Coral and I stayed awake and ate candy the whole way to the airport (which was like 1hour).
Then when we arrived at the airport it was like 3pm so we had looooooooots of spare time to do nothing!!
Since the check-in wasn’t open yet, we went to go look at the stores.

We needed to spend all our leftover coins, José bought a bag of orange konpeitos (a Japanese sweet)  and I got a bag of candies shaped as bunnies.
The bunny candy tasted really bad.
After going through all the stores about 500 times, we went to do the check-in.

The line wasn’t that long but it felt like it was so long… Then after the check-in we went back to the shops, but not long after we went to go eat. It was good, not the best but it was still good!

We then fixed up our bags and went to go eat ice cream.
We bought 6 ice creams all with coins, Coral ended up eating the green tea one and she loved it!
After that we waited at the gate for them to let us in, they opened the gate really late, it was annoying.

candies for the flight

Must have on a plane: candies

Then we got in the plane dad sat beside Coral, José sat beside mom, and I sat beside João. I basically watched cartoons for a while until the food came. I’m one who really dislikes airplane food, I just find it really, really gross. Usually end up only eating the little cookies and biscuits. And then going to sleep~ sleep~ sleep~

We repeat this process throughout the flight, watch, sleep, watch, sleep.

Once when I went to the bathroom and there was a small line but the person in the bathroom was taking really long, I stood in line for ages, the people in the bathrooms on the other side of the plane were going really fast but here was so slow… Eventually, the person came out.

We finally arrive at Abu Dhabi, there wasn’t much we had to do so we just kinda sat around for a while. We even found a smiley face within the letters on a sign!
Not long after, it was time to head into the next plane.
This time the gate took even longer to let us go inside. This time dad, mom, and Coral all sat together and José, João and I all sat together.

There were the same things to watch so I mostly played games with João and José but I did watch the same cartoons over and over again. I slept a little but really not much, I ended up doodling a lot.

When we were almost arriving, Coral got really sick, which sucked because they were landing but when we landed they wouldn’t hurry up and open the doors!! It’s was terrible, I felt kinda sick, but it was only because the area around us smelt like vomit, they wouldn’t hurry up and let us out.
As soon as we got off the plane, we went to the restrooms to clean Coral up and  brush our teeth. We all headed out through the security and stuff like that.
We were as tired as heck but went to greet our family and went to enjoy the rest of my birthday.

Anyway, this is where I am going to leave this post for today.

Hope you enjoyed it!
